Vancouver Whitecaps Dominate CONCACAF Champions League Opener with 5-0 Win over Real CD Espana

The Vancouver Whitecaps began their CONCACAF Champions League campaign with a resounding 5-0 victory over Honduran side Real CD Espana. Tristan Blackmon, Ryan Raposo, Pedro Vite, and Brian White all scored for the Canadian team, while Espana midfielder Devron Garcia added an own goal in the 64th minute.

Goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka collected his first clean sheet for the Whitecaps, stopping both on-target shots he faced, while Espana’s Luis Lopez had nine saves for the visitors. The second leg of the two-game aggregate round-of-16 series will take place in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on March 15. The Whitecaps will return to MLS action on Saturday when they host FC Dallas.
